QEH secure 1st and 2nd in Bristol WorldWise Quiz

13th November 2018 6pm: 12 teams from 8 different schools* in the Bristol region assembled at Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital for the 2018-9 Bristol WorldWise Quiz. A range of geographical skills were put to the test over the course of 2 hours with 6 rounds: General geographical knowledge; field and mappings skills; history, architecture and physical geography.

Quiz-master duties were performed admirably, once again, by Dr. Tony Hoare (Univ. of Bristol and former Bristol GA President). Thanks to the planning of the principal organiser, Amy Blakemore (St. Mary Redcliffe), who was ably supported on the evening by Janet Neil, Simon Killen, Rosemary Routledge and Chloe Gibson, the contest proceeded without incident.

All teams showed promise and should be applauded for their attainment. Narrow front runners (by one point) at half-time, QEH2, were eventual winners, with QEH1 in 2nd place, followed by Bristol Grammar School 1 and St. Mary Redcliffe 2 in joint 3rd place.

Our thanks to the team at QEH for hosting the event, including great half-time snacks; teachers for transport, supervision and much more; parents for moral support.
